Punky Reggae Party was a Song by Bob Marley and Lee Perry released in London 1977 where Jamaican immigrants, Rastas, Punx, Rudeboys and Skinheads – all people out of the so called working class – celebrating their Partys in togetherness against the downpressure System.
As we all know, Cumbia could share the stage with other different styles. So we heard the Reggae Cumbia Style or Balkumbia, Cumbia works fine with Jazz and as Downbeat. Today we mix up the Style with Punk.
Andrés: As I started to make music I was Guitar Player in a Punk Band, was writing a Fanzine, organizing Concerts in my Hometown and Touring for British Punkbands in Germany. This was around 1985. Now 2024, after more than 15 years with the loved Cumbia nothing really changed.
